Our Story
Founded in 2007, on a simple idea.
Brian Ullrich left Principal Financial Group on January 1, 2007 to start EPIQ. He had a young family, a finance degree, and a strong opinion that the broker-carrier relationship was rigged against the people the system was supposed to serve. Nineteen years later, the bet is still paying off.
In 2024 we lost our largest client. We laid off no one we wanted to keep, and rebuilt with the people who shared the values. The team today is smarter, more diverse, and more driven than it has ever been — and we are grateful.
We still work the way we did on day one. Flat fees, no kickbacks, plenty of pride, and a deep belief that doing right by people in the long game actually wins.

Brian founded EPIQ in 2007 after a decade in the industry, lead consultant on every major client engagement, and the person who answers when something is on fire.
Renee Ullrich
Chief Financial Officer
Renee runs the financial side of EPIQ — accounting, commissions, vendor relationships, and the operational discipline that lets the producers focus on clients.
Dana Smith
Employee Benefits Team Lead
Dana leads day-to-day client service for our benefits book. Open enrollment, claims escalations, carrier wrangling — Dana and her team handle it, and clients love her for it.
